December 18, 1941

 Dear Sweetheart,

 I received your good letter today and was awful glad to hear from you dear. I can't understand why it took so long for my letter to reach you, without it wasn't sent by airmail. I know how it is dear about writing, Sometimes there just isn't a thing to write about, that the way I am now, but if you are ever that way just write and say you still love me. That makes me feel a lot better dear. 

 Honey you don't want to do any worrying about me for there hasn't even been an enemy plane or ship close here. The only way I could get hurt is to fall out of bed, and I have never done that for years so I don't think I'll start now. 

 Honey I sure wish you could see me now. I have a nice little mustach now. All the boys here are growing them and some of them sure look funny. They are just about all collars, sizes, and shapes. 

I hope you do stay there with Mother and Dad until I come back dear. They need someone now worse than before. I bet you feel like killing me for going to the army honey, but if I hadn't went I sure would have had to now and it would have been lots harder to leave you all now don't you think? I know it would have been for me dear. I love you so much honey I'll go crazy before I get back.

 We get to go to shows here on the fort of a night now if we want to dear. They have all the latest pictures just out so they are always good. Do you remember the night we went to the Virginia in Pks.? I know I didn't watch the picture much because I was looking at you. Will you go to a show with me again when I get back dear? Mabby we can see a lot of them after we are married honey if you want to.

 I just got off of 28 hours of guard so I am pretty tired but I bet if I was with you I wouldn't be one bit tired honey. What do you think honey? I never used to get tired but that was when I had you to go and see. We did get sleepy sometime though, do you remember. I sure would like to do it all again dear just like we used to.

I'll have to close now honey as the lights will be turned out in a few minutes. I hope you are feeling fine. I am.
