 Dear Sweetheart,

Received your very sweet letter today and was awfully glad to hear from you again dear. Honey thanks an awful lot for the box of candy it is very very good and it came on Valentine day. I am awful sorry dear I couldn't get any place to get you something nice like that. I though (thought) the little card would let you know I still love you.

Honey I have been walking guard for 72 hours steady- just came off last night and I really am tired. I will go on guard at 3:00am in the morning again this time. I will be on guard for 3 hours and off nine. I will be on guard like that all the time now. That will be all I have to do, no other work of any kind. That is lots better than doing guard and working too.

You know dear the biggest reason for me sending for that case was to get your pictures. I did need it and I wanted those two pictures too.

Honey Dadd said that they couldn't get along without you and said he would hate to think what might have happened if you hadn't been around when Mother got hurt. They both like you as much as they would their on (own) girl and they need you too dear, I hope you will stay with them, sweetheart.

Honey, I still remember very well about the time out at Roberts when you wanted to get married. I really wanted to then too dear, but I though (thought) it would be better to wait until my year was up but now I feel like Hell. I sure wish we had got married then, dear. Will you ever forgive me for not wanting to get married then dear? I loved you then and I still love you very very much honey. I really give you my word that if you will have me when I come back I (will) marry you just as soon as possible.

Honey we got about 70 more men in the day befor (before) yesterday from San Fransisco. You should see this place, it (is) so crowded we can hardly move around.

Honey, I hope I will be able to be with you befor (before) the war is over for a little while anyway. You know I might get a furlough and get to come back for a little while this summer. I hope you will be there at home because I cant never tell when I get a leave. I know I cant now but everything might change all at once so I could. I hope it does sometime because I am just crazy to see you, dear.

I will have to close now honey so I cant get a little sleep befor (before) 3:00am. I sure wouldn't want to go to sleep on guard. I am well and I hope you are too dear.

P.S. I love you honey
