Dear Sweetheart,
I received your letter yesterday and honey I sure was glad to hear from you. Things are different here the last few days in Camp. Some of the boys got to talking about it being more like a C.C.C. camp than a (an) Army. The Captain heard them and now we are realy (really) stepping around. We have to have our shoes shined every hour and be shaved every time we go out for drill. Our beds have to be made perfect, the floors swept and moped every morning and our cloths (clothes) in just the right place, also the windows have to be washed every other day. Outside we have to pick up sigrett (cigarette) butts and matches every morning. If anything that I have said isn't done right we will get a week K.P. (kitchen police or work). There were 64 from one of the other Batterys yesterday had to do extra duty because the (they) had dust on their beds. It's realy (really) the good old Army now.
We have been taking turns at K.P. and table waiter since I came. I have been table waiter twice ( I am today) but haven't been K.P. yet. Table waiter is easy work. K.P. is pretty hard work. It starts at 6:00am and ends 9:00pm at night sometimes later.
HOney I might be a cook when I get out of the army (ha!ha!) Then you wouldn't have to work when we get married. Listen Sweetheart I want to get married just as soon as I get to come home. YOu can pick the place where we will live. I would like to stay a while at home but its (it's) up to you. Dear Honey I love you ebout to go anywhere you want to go. HOney you know I was true to you when I was there with you. So I could never go to dances or with anyone else while I am away from you. Listen Dear I only run around with boys who don't go with any girls only their own like I do. I don't think you are stepping out, or ever will, on me either because you didn't when I was their (there). I think you love me to (too) much for that Dear.
Honey we have a radio or two in every berricks. They sure have some pretty music here in California. We also have a cat, and the dogs are as thick as they can be. Oh, yes we have thousands of misquitoes too (at night). Honey, its has quit raining here now. We have sunshine every day and I am as brown as a nigger. The people around here say that there won't be any more rain until next December. It sure gets dry and hot out here.
Honey I wish you would write and tell me what you wanted me to write about. I know it's hard to find anything to write about where you are, but it's 10 times harder here, I know because I have been both places. Listen Dear you know I love you better than anyone in the world, but Honey I could tell you a lot better if I were there with you. I can't seem to find words to say what I would like to on paper. ANyway Dear I love you; Love you more every day I am away. Honey if I were there with you right this minute, you wouldn't have to say "don't", not even once because all I would want to do is just be in your arms and have you kiss me. Sweetheart I had better close now and write to Mother too. I am lonesome to see you Dear.
You Loving,
Husband

Honey, I wish I were with you. I guess a year is so long if you say it real fast.
